Luka Dončić Available to Play Against Nuggets, Latest Mavericks Injury Updates
After being listed by the Dallas Mavericks as questionable with a left groin strain, Luka Dončić will be available to play against the Denver Nuggets.
DENVER — After being listed as questionable due to a left groin strain, the Dallas Mavericks were upgraded to available for Sunday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets. He went through a pre-game workout before going from being a game-time decision to being activated.
The Mavericks will remain without Dereck Lively II (right shoulder sprain), P.J. Washington (right knee sprain), and Danté Exum (right wrist surgery). However, Maxi Kleber (right hamstring strain) went from being considered doubtful to being elevated to active after missing the team’s last seven games.
Dončić, averaging 28.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists on the season, will seek to guide the Mavericks to remain above .500. Dallas is coming off a 114-113 loss against the Phoenix Suns on Friday and went 2-3 to end a five-game homestand. A loss against the Nuggets would put the Mavs at 5-5. It won’t come easy, as they have gone 1-4 in Denver since the 2021-22 season.
A previous problem that has plagued the Mavericks in matchups with the Nuggets has been undersized personnel needing to hold their own. Aside from Daniel Gafford and Kleber, the Mavs will be without the main frontcourt options for size.
It remains to be seen when any of the Mavericks’ other inactive players return to competition. However, Lively and Washington were listed as doubtful on this report after being outright listed as out before Dallas faced the Suns.
