Dwight Powell will draw the start at center Wednesday night for the Dallas Mavericks against the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena, filling in for the injured Daniel Gafford (right shoulder sprain).
Powell, who is averaging 3.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 53 games this season, has shown he can step in and provide dirty-work impact and fundamentally sound, complementary offensive production. In eight starts this season, he is averaging 5.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He will be tasked with matching up against Nikola Jokić.
Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. CT at Ball Arena.
