Klay Thompson Headlines 10-Player Dallas Mavericks Injury Report Before Christmas Day Game vs. Golden State Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks will take the floor on Christmas Day short-handed once again, carrying a lengthy injury report into a nationally televised matchup against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.
Dallas listed 10 players on its pregame availability report, underscoring how thin the rotation remains as the Mavericks look to build on recent momentum against one of the league’s most familiar Christmas Day fixtures.
Dallas Mavericks Injury Report vs. Golden State Warriors
- Brandon Williams — Probable (Right Ankle Sprain)
- Max Christie — Probable (Illness)
- Dwight Powell — Probable (Illness)
- Klay Thompson — Probable (Left Knee Soreness)
- Moussa Cissé — Questionable (G League)
- P.J. Washington — Questionable (Right Midfoot Soreness)
- Miles Kelly — Doubtful (G League)
- Dereck Lively II — Out (Right Foot Surgery)
- Kyrie Irving — Out (Left Knee Surgery)
- Danté Exum — Out (Right Knee Surgery)
The absences of Irving, Lively and Exum continue to test Dallas’ depth, while the questionable statuses of Washington and Cissé could further complicate frontcourt rotations if either is unavailable.
Cooper Flagg’s First Christmas Stage
Despite the injuries, much of the attention will center on Cooper Flagg, who will make his first NBA Christmas Day appearance and his first trip to San Francisco as a professional.
Flagg enters the matchup averaging 19.2 points and 6.4 rebounds through 30 games and has surged as Dallas has stabilized after a 5–15 start. Over the Mavericks’ last 11 games — a 7–4 stretch — Flagg has elevated his production to 25.1 points per game on 53.4% shooting.
The rookie is coming off one of the most complete performances of his young career, posting 33 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists on 14-of-21 shooting in Tuesday’s 131–130 win over the Nuggets.
“They are trying to put their toughest defender on him every night. Try to take away his ability to put the ball on the floor and score,” Dallas center Anthony Davis said. “But he’s handling it very well.”
Familiar Faces From March Meet Again in December
While Flagg’s college season ended in disappointment last April, echoes of the Final Four linger around this Christmas matchup.
Flagg outscored LJ Cryer 27–26 in Duke’s national semifinal loss to Houston, though Cryer has yet to make his NBA debut after signing with Golden State and spending time with Santa Cruz. A direct rematch is unlikely.
A more probable on-court connection comes against Will Richard, who was selected by the Warriors late in the draft after helping Florida win the national championship. Richard has averaged 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in his first 25 NBA games, including a 30-point outing in November and a 20-point performance last week.
Flagg, by contrast, has already topped 30 points three times this season and surpassed 20 points on 13 occasions.
A Homecoming for Klay Thompson
Adding another layer to the afternoon is Klay Thompson’s return to Chase Center in a Mavericks uniform. Thompson spent 13 seasons with the Warriors, winning four championships and establishing himself as one of the most prolific shooters in league history.
Golden State will honor the occasion with a celebratory scarf giveaway for fans in attendance.
Christmas Test Amid Uncertainty
Dallas enters the holiday at 12–19, hoping that recent progress can offset the realities of a battered roster. The Mavericks were forced to suit up multiple two-way players in their last outing due to illness and injury, a situation that could again dictate rotations against a Warriors team accustomed to the Christmas spotlight.
Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. CST on ABC and ESPN, with the Mavericks looking to extend their recent momentum while navigating one of their most challenging injury stretches of the season.
