Offseason NBA Trade Proposal Sends Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo To Cleveland Cavaliers

An offseason NBA trade proposal sending Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Cleveland Cavaliers has emerged.

In a column called “The Perfect 2026 Offseason Trade for Every NBA Team,” Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Cavaliers trade for Antetokounmpo this summer:

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: F/C Evan Mobley, G/F Max Strus, SG Tyrese Proctor, 2026 first-round pick (projected No. 29 overall), 2031 first-round pick, 2030 first-round pick swap

The Cavaliers and Bucks are in the same division, so the odds of Milwaukee trading Antetokounmpo to Cleveland are pretty low.

However, Mobley is one of the top two-way players in the NBA. Since Antetokounmpo is getting older and has been hurt most of this season, Mobley could be the best player the Bucks can get for Antetokounmpo.

Swartz’s trade proposal pairs Antetokounmpo with fellow All-Stars James Harden, Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen in Cleveland. That’s a lethal “Big 4.”

“Pairing Antetokounmpo and Mitchell together is extremely tempting for Cleveland,” Swartz wrote. “Assuming Harden returns (player option), the Cavs would still have a core of Allen, Jaylon Tyson, Sam Merrill, Dennis Schröder and others.”

The Bucks never felt urgency to trade Antetokounmpo at this year’s NBA trade deadline. Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee are widely expected to discuss their future again this offseason.

A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and 10-time All-Star. The NBA legend has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season.

The Bucks can offer Antetokounmpo an extension in October. It will be intriguing to see if Antetokounmpo remains with Milwaukee or finally gets traded this offseason. If he wants to win another championship, Antetokounmpo likely has to leave the Bucks.

Milwaukee won the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns. Since then, the franchise has won just one playoff series.
