Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg‘s jersey from his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs was sold privately by Sotheby’s for $1 million, according to Dan Hajducky of ESPN.

“The $1 million result for Cooper Flagg’s rookie debut jersey is a powerful testament to the significance collectors place on true ‘first moments’ in sport,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, said in a statement. “This jersey captures the very beginning of a special career, one carrying huge expectations and excitement.”

Flagg had 10 points and 10 rebounds in his NBA debut against the Spurs. The Duke product shot 4-of-13 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in the Mavericks’ 125-92 loss at home.

The 19-year-old Flagg is the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year Award this season. He’s averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The Maine native became the NBA’s youngest player to score 40 points in a game and owns the single-game record for points scored by a teenager (49).

Flagg is shooting 48.2% from the field, 30.2% from 3 and 80.4% from the free-throw line.

“Cooper is just an amazing player, and that’s not even just gassing it,” Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving said. “At 19 years old, doing the things that he’s doing within our league is very special… I don’t want to mince my words either. He’s doing things that some of the greats, even before him, didn’t do. He’s chasing history.”

Flagg is currently out with a left midfoot sprain. It’s unknown when the swingman will return to the lineup for the Mavericks, who are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.

Dallas is rebuilding after trading Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers last season for Anthony Davis and Max Christie. Davis only played in 29 games with Dallas before getting traded to the Washington Wizards.
