Dallas Wings Announce 2026 Training Camp Roster: 22 Players Set, Five Late Arrivals

DHJ Quick Take: Dallas Wings Bring 22 to Camp

  • The Return of Odyssey: Odyssey Sims‘ return to Arlington provides an immediate veteran presence for the young backcourt. Fresh off an Athletes Unlimited title, her “tempo-changing” ability is the perfect bridge for rookies Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.
  • Veteran Stability: The signing of three-time champion Alysha Clark underscores Curt Miller’s goal of adding “fierce competitors” to the locker room. Her defensive versatility is a foundational piece for a team integrating so many new parts.
  • Size in the Paint: By adding 6-foot-6 center Kyla Oldacre (Texas) and 6-foot-4 forward Grace Sullivan (Northwestern), the Wings have ensured that their internal competition for frontcourt spots will be physically demanding from Day 1.
  • Countdown to Indy: With only 20 days between the start of camp and the season opener against the Fever, the “quick turnaround” Azzi Fudd mentioned is the primary obstacle. Jose Fernandez will have just 15 practices to install his new system before it’s tested in Indiana.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings announced their full 2026 training camp roster on Thursday, confirming that five players will miss the start of camp due to overseas commitments.

Guard Arike Ogunbowale, forwards Jessica Shepard and Awak Kuier, guard Costanza Verona, and forward/center Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu will all arrive late as they fulfill international obligations. Training camp opens Sunday at College Park Center in Arlington.

The full 22-player roster is listed below.

Five Key Dallas Wings Players to Arrive Late

Dallas enters camp with 22 players competing for 12 guaranteed roster spots under the new collective bargaining agreement, with the option to carry up to two developmental players.

The five late arrivals represent some of the Wings’ most important rotation pieces. Ogunbowale is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. Shepard and Kuier are central to the frontcourt depth general manager Curt Miller assembled specifically to give head coach Jose Fernandez lineup flexibility. Meanwhile, Verona and Fankam Mendjiadeu are both competing for roster spots and will have a shortened window to make their case once they arrive.

Miller acknowledged the challenge of opening camp short-handed in an exclusive interview with Dallas Hoops Journal.

“Multiple post players will be late to camp because of international obligations or immigration issues, so he’s going to have to work really hard,” Miller told Dallas Hoops Journal. “What I know is this team is going to look a heck of a lot different in July than it does in May. We’re going to have to have patience as this group comes together.”

What It Means for Training Camp

Fernandez will open camp with 17 of the 22 players available — enough to run full five-on-five sessions, but without the complete picture of what this roster looks like at full strength. The Wings have 15 practices and two exhibition games before their May 9 season opener against the Indiana Fever.

Dallas will integrate an almost entirely new roster around back-to-back No. 1 overall picks Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, with a head coach installing a professional-level system for the first time. Fernandez indicated ahead of camp that the early signs have been encouraging.

“We’ve already seen great habits from players who arrived early. I like the standards we’ve set in workouts,” Fernandez said. “I’m excited to see how that carries into training camp — how we prepare, practice, and communicate.”

Dallas opens the 2026 WNBA season on the road against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 9, at 12 p.m. CT.
