A five-team NBA trade idea sending Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Los Angeles Lakers has been created.

NBA writer Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Bucks, Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets:

Dallas Mavericks get: LeBron James, Bronny James, Andre Jackson Jr., Tyler Smith, Drew Timme

Los Angeles Lakers get: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Tyrese Martin, $4 million trade exception, $2 million trade exception

Milwaukee Bucks get: RJ Barrett, PJ Washington, Caleb Martin, Naji Marshall, $2 million trade exception, 2026 first-round swap rights (from Lakers), 2026 Lakers second-rounder (via Raptors), 2028 first-round swap rights (from Lakers), 2030 first-round swap rights (from Lakers), 2031 first-rounder (from Lakers), 2032 first-round swap rights (from Lakers)

Toronto Raptors get: Daniel Gafford, $13.3 million trade exception

Brooklyn Nets get: Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, Dwight Powell

Pincus created this blockbuster NBA trade idea because LeBron’s future with the Lakers is up in the air and Antetokounmpo is still evaluating his future with the Bucks.

LeBron would have to request a trade for this NBA trade idea to work since he has a no-trade clause in his contract.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported on August 4 that nothing is set in stone regarding Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks, who haven’t won a postseason series since 2022. Milwaukee has won just one playoff series since winning the 2021 title against the Phoenix Suns.

This NBA trade idea would pair Antetokounmpo with Luka Dončić, who is the new franchise player on the Lakers. Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed The Greek Freak to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.

Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. He has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.

The Lakers haven’t won a championship since 2020. They would be strong title contenders if Antetokounmpo became teammates with Dončić.
