Giannis Antetokounmpo To Golden State Warriors: A Blockbuster Trade Proposal

DHJ Quick Take: The Optimized Dynasty

  • The Curry-Giannis Fit: This is the ultimate inside-outside pairing. Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the league’s most dominant interior force, while Steph Curry’s gravity creates the spacing Giannis has never fully had in Milwaukee. In a 2026 Western Conference dominated by the Thunder and Spurs, this duo gives the Warriors a legitimate window for one last championship.
  • The Butler Audition: For the Milwaukee Bucks, receiving Jimmy Butler isn’t about long-term fit—it’s about asset management. Milwaukee can audition Butler to see if a core of Damian Lillard and Butler can remain competitive, or immediately flip him for further draft capital to jumpstart a full rebuild around a younger core.
  • Warriors Draft Capital: By relinquishing three unprotected first-round picks (2027, 2029, 2032) and a 2031 swap, Golden State is officially emptying the clip. As the “dying dynasty” enters its final phase, Mike Dunleavy Jr. is betting that Giannis’s prime will last long enough to mitigate the pain of those distant, post-Curry picks.
  • The “Small Market” Reset: The Bucks‘ championship in 2021 remains the gold standard for small-market success, but the 2025-26 season has shown the limitations of an aging roster. Securing Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody provides the Bucks with two foundational rotation pieces to begin the post-Giannis era without a decade-long stay in the lottery.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been dominating NBA trade rumors for some time.

How could he not? This is an in-prime MVP. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokić will rank ahead of Antetokounmpo on any list of the best players in the game. After them, Antetokounmpo has a case over anyone. With rumors suggesting he’s ready to move on from the Milwaukee Bucks, the world is watching.

Everything Antetokounmpo does generates buzz. So, it’s no surprise that his decision to attend Stephen Curry‘s recent party has people talking. Is Antetokounmpo bound for the Bay Area?

If so, here’s the one deal that gets him there.

The Trade Proposal

Why the Milwaukee Bucks Do the Deal

Admittedly, the Bucks could likely find a better deal than this one.

Yet, we know the NBA trade market isn’t entirely independent. Backstage politics can influence decisions. If Antetokounmpo wants to be a Warrior badly enough, his people can put the word out that he’s not staying anywhere else, so that he might be moved.

If so, rival suitors will withdraw, or modify, their offers. With the market compromised, this could be the best offer they get. So, they’d have to accept it.

It could be worse. Moody and Podziemski are talented young players. The Bucks could audition Jimmy Butler for an additional trade. Most significantly, three first-round picks and a swap from an aging Warriors team making one last title push will make for valuable assets.

Should the Warriors give up those picks?

Why the Golden State Warriors Do the Deal

The Warriors’ logic is simple enough: Giannis Antetokounmpo is Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Fans have been fantasizing about this pairing for years. Few, if any, NBA players score around the rim as well as Antetokounmpo. Curry is the best shooter in NBA history. This would be one of the most optimized inside/outside duos we’ve ever seen.

Is it enough to earn the Warriors a title? Who can say? The Thunder are a buzzsaw. The Spurs are on the rise. Still, pairing Antetokounmpo and Curry should give the Warriors as good a chance as anyone.

The Bigger Picture

The Warriors are a dying dynasty, but they aren’t dead.

Curry is still a star. He needs help. Pairing him with Antetokounmpo could make the Warriors a serious challenger for the 2026-27 NBA title.

Meanwhile, losing the former MVP will force the Bucks to reset. That’s fine. They probably need to reset anyway. This small-market franchise will remain thankful for the NBA championship they won behind Antetokounmpo’s talents, even if the last couple of years have been marred by trade rumors.
