NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo “may never appear in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform again,” according to Henry Abbott of TrueHoop.

Antetokounmpo will miss the next four to six weeks with a right calf injury.

“Giannis limped from Friday’s game against the Nuggets in the final minute of crunch time,” Abbott wrote. “Over his last five games, the Bucks have been minus-55 with Giannis on the court. Sources say he may never appear in a Bucks uniform again.”

Abbott also reported Antetokounmpo came close to firing his agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon, and that Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group wants to represent “The Greek Freak.”

“So it was alarming to hear a story of real drama, that Giannis was close to firing his longtime agent Alex Saratsis over his failure to get Giannis traded from the Bucks. … And in this case, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports not only has a tendency to talk about Giannis, but also–multiple sources agree–has been talking to Giannis’s brother Thanasis as of late,” Abott wrote. “Rich, it seems clear, would like to represent Giannis, and (despite what’s happening with Anthony Davis in Dallas) is said to have been making the case that he’s the guy who can get a star player where he wants to go.

“Two excellent NBA sources suggest that this kind of agent subterfuge is a constant undertone of NBA life, and it’s not worth worrying about. Two others believe there’s a very real chance that Giannis will soon have a new agent.”

Milwaukee has lost in the first round of the playoffs three years in a row, so multiple people around the NBA believe Antetokounmpo should ask for a trade.

The Bucks are currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Antetokounmpo is making $54.1 million this season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. The future Hall of Famer doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.

A two-time MVP, Antetokounmpo has been linked to the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets in trade rumors.

Before this season, Antetokounmpo requested a trade from the Bucks and wanted to be traded to the Knicks, sources told DallasHoopsJournal. However, Milwaukee and New York didn’t agree to a deal.

The Bucks are 3-11 this season without Antetokounmpo. They will likely drop even further in the East standings moving forward without their best player in the lineup.

Antetokounmpo has appeared in 30 games this season. He’s averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 64.5% from the field and 65.8% from the free-throw line.

The 2026 NBA trade deadline is February 5 at 3 p.m. ET. It will be fascinating to see if Antetokounmpo and the Bucks part ways.
