Golden State Warriors Value Chicago Bulls’ Josh Giddey’s ‘Skillset,’ Have Communicated Their Interest With His Reps

The Golden State Warriors value Chicago Bulls point-forward Josh Giddey‘s “skillset” and have communicated their interest with his representation, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
However, the Warriors likely won’t get Giddey since he’s a restricted free agent and the Bulls are not interested in doing a sign-and-trade deal involving the Australian.
“I’m told that the Warriors continue to value Josh Giddey’s skillset and have communicated their interest to the Australian point guard’s representation,” Fischer wrote. “There simply does not appear to be a feasible pathway to such a trade … not right now. The base-year compensation issue alone makes it challenging before we even get to the limited salary-matching and outgoing player flexibility that Golden State is currently facing.”
Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks last season for the Bulls, shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 78.1% from the free-throw line. He recorded 30 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles in 70 games.
Chicago acquired Giddey from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Alex Caruso trade on June 21, 2024. Caruso helped the Thunder win the 2025 championship against the Indiana Pacers in seven games, while Giddey and the Bulls missed the 2025 playoffs.
The Warriors made the postseason last season. They beat the Houston Rockets in the first round in seven games but lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round in five games.
Giddey turns 23 in October. He has career averages of 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Thunder and Bulls.
The Bulls made an offer of $80 million over four years to Giddey when the offseason commenced on June 30. Giddey is seeking an annual salary in the $30 million range.
Golden State, like Chicago, has a restricted free agent. Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors haven’t had contact for a couple of weeks. There’s a strong possibility that negotiations could continue through August.
Giddey and Kuminga have until October 1 to sign their qualifying offers for next season.
