The Dallas Wings return home Friday night to look to build momentum when they host the Los Angeles Sparks at College Park Center. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game will air regionally on ION.

Dallas (9-24) snapped a five-game losing streak Tuesday with an 81-80 road win over the Indiana Fever. Maddy Siegrist matched her career high with 22 points, hitting a personal-best three 3-pointers, while Li Yueru scored a career-high 20 points. Paige Bueckers added 16 points and eight assists.

The Sparks (15-17) fell 105-97 to the New York Liberty on Tuesday despite 26 points from Kelsey Plum and 21 from Dearica Hamby. Los Angeles has dropped just three of its last 12 games but missed a chance to get back to .500 for the first time since opening the season 1-1.

This is the second meeting of the season between the teams. The Sparks claimed the opener 93-79 in Arlington on June 6. The clubs will meet twice more over the next three weeks.

No injuries to report.

Maddy Siegrist Finds Rhythm After Return

After missing 18 games with a knee injury, Siegrist has averaged 14.8 points on over 61 percent shooting in four games since returning Aug. 5. She matched her career high Tuesday and knocked down a personal-best three triples.

“It feels like I’ve been back for a while, but I realized it’s only been a week and four games,” Siegrist said. “We’ve shown that we can be really disruptive and get out in transition. It’s fun when you play like that — running up and down, playing fast.”

Paige Bueckers Nears Rookie Milestone

Bueckers is two assists shy of breaking the Wings’ rookie single-season record of 142 set by Odyssey Sims in 2014. She currently ranks third on the franchise rookie scoring list with 479 points.

“She’s such a great passer and reads the game so well,” Siegrist told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “She always finds her teammates — she’s just a great player to play with.”

Li Yueru Gaining Confidence Inside

Yueru’s 20-point performance in Indiana showcased her growing comfort in the paint.

“I can feel he wants to put me more in the paint area now,” Yueru told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “Sometimes I don’t have a good feeling or I worry too much about things, but I try to believe in myself and do better in there to help the team.”

Head coach Chris Koclanes said the goal is for Yueru to “own her space, catch the ball more, and finish at a higher clip” while continuing to be a strong screener and floor spacer.

Los Angeles Sparks’ Frontcourt Challenge

The Sparks’ starting unit has been a key driver in their recent success. In Tuesday’s loss, Hamby, Stevens, and Jackson combined for 54 points alongside Plum’s 26.

“They’re up-and-down fast, and at the post position it’s Rae Burrell and Azura Stevens who are the difference-makers for them,” Koclanes told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “When those players have good games, that’s when you see them winning more games. We’ll have our hands full.”
