The Dallas Mavericks return to American Airlines Center on Monday night looking to end an 11-game home losing streak that has now stretched into its third calendar month. Standing in the way is a Golden State Warriors team that arrives in Dallas carrying the chance to do two things at once: clinch a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament and mathematically eliminate the Mavericks from postseason contention on the same night.
Golden State enters at 33-38, sitting 8.5 games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies for the 10th and final play-in spot in the West with 11 games remaining. The Warriors have lost eight of nine but remain safely positioned to extend their streak of consecutive playoff appearances. A Dallas loss Monday would push the Mavericks to 10.5 games back with 10 games to play, formally ending any postseason hope and sending Dallas to back-to-back lottery seasons after reaching the NBA Finals in 2024.
Neither team arrives in a good position. The Mavericks blew a nine-point halftime lead Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers and fell 138-131 in overtime, their 10th loss in 11 home games. The Warriors have dropped four of five on their current road trip and will be without Stephen Curry, Al Horford, and Moses Moody on Monday night. Curry, sidelined for 21 straight games with a sore right knee, is scheduled for a re-evaluation on Tuesday with hopes of returning to the lineup this week.
Despite the loss, Dallas has given its fans reasons to show up. Cooper Flagg is chasing history on a nightly basis, and Monday’s matchup offers yet another milestone on the horizon.

Last Dallas Mavericks Game: Loss to Los Angeles Clippers, 138-131 (OT)
Dallas dropped a gut-punch overtime decision to the Clippers on Saturday, blowing a nine-point halftime lead and falling 138-131 at American Airlines Center. The loss extended the Mavericks’ home losing streak to 11 games, dating back to Jan. 22.
Darius Garland, listed as questionable before tip-off with a toe injury, set a new season high with 41 points and 11 assists. Kawhi Leonard added 34, including 13 in the third quarter on 4-of-4 shooting, as the Clippers outscored Dallas 37-27 in the period to flip a nine-point deficit into a one-point lead heading into the fourth.
Naji Marshall led Dallas with 28 points, four assists, and two steals. He stripped Garland at halfcourt in the final 30 seconds of regulation, setting up a P.J. Washington coast-to-coast go-ahead dunk with 23.6 seconds left — but Leonard answered with a baseline layup at 19.1 seconds to force overtime.
Cooper Flagg had a chance to end it at the buzzer, pulling up from 21 feet with 1.2 seconds remaining. The shot did not fall.
“I felt good about it,” Flagg said. “I thought we got a good look, and I was confident in the shot I got. I thought it was balanced and got a great look at it. Just didn’t fall, but it’s a shot I wanted to get to.”
Flagg finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, along with a career-high-tying four blocks. The performance pushed him past Luka Dončić for the second-most games with at least 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists by a teenager in NBA history, trailing only LeBron James.
Washington added 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, six rebounds, and the regulation dunk that briefly put Dallas ahead. Ryan Nembhard posted 13 points, nine assists, and zero turnovers in 31 minutes, finishing at plus-17 — the best mark on the team. Marvin Bagley III went 7-of-8 from the field for 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
The Clippers shot 6-of-9 from the field in overtime, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, and committed zero turnovers in the extra period.
What to Watch: Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors
Cooper Flagg’s Triple-Double Watch
Flagg has now posted double figures in points 57 times, in rebounds nine times, and in assists twice this season. His eight-assist performance against the Clippers left him two shy of his first career triple-double. Coach Jason Kidd, who recorded 107 triple-doubles during his playing career — sixth in NBA history — said after Saturday’s loss that Flagg’s first is coming.
“He’s done a really good job of making the right play,” Kidd said. “This game was no different.”
Monday’s matchup against a Warriors team playing out the string without its best player offers another opportunity.
Klay Thompson vs. His Former Team
Klay Thompson incinerated the Clippers with four first-quarter 3-pointers — all clean — before Los Angeles adjusted and blitzed him off every catch in the second half. He now has 166 3-pointers off the bench this season, second in the league. A homecoming matchup against Golden State carries a different weight, and Thompson remains one of Dallas’s most dangerous offensive weapons when defenses are not game-planning specifically for him.
Golden State Warriors Without Stephen Curry Again
Golden State will be without Stephen Curry, who has missed 21 straight games and is scheduled for a re-evaluation Tuesday. The Warriors are 6-15 in his absence. Brandin Podziemski has stepped into the starting lineup for the past 13 games and is averaging 14.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and four assists per game during that stretch. Horford and Moody are also out Monday.
Dallas Mavericks’ Home Losing Streak
The Mavericks have not won at American Airlines Center since Jan. 22. They have allowed at least 123 points in 10 of those 11 losses and have five remaining home games to snap it before the regular season ends. Golden State, dealing with its own injury attrition and having dropped four of five on this road trip, presents as close to an obtainable opponent as remains on the home schedule.
