It appears two-time WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark is getting closer to playing for the Indiana Fever again.
According to Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star, Clark took part in some drills at shootaround with the Fever on Sunday for the first time in over a month.
Clark, who has been working her way back from a right groin injury, tweaked her left ankle during a workout session on August 7. The talented shooter and passer has been out since July 15. She’s only played in 13 games this season.
One of the best players in the WNBA, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.5 blocks for the Fever this season. She missed the All-Star Game in Indiana because of her groin injury.
Clark won the Rookie of the Year Award last season. She was the first pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. The Iowa product has career averages of 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Fever, who are 19-17 on the season.
The 23-year-old Clark was recently a guest on WNBA legend Sue Bird‘s podcast, where she discussed what it has been like to be injured this season.
“It’s just been so challenging. Like being active and playing four games and then not and like not feeling the best and then frustrated of like how hard I worked in the offseason. And then like all I do is rehab and like continue to do this process and just like trying to trust that the best I can,” Clark said. “And obviously there’s really frustrating days and there’s days where like it’s a little bit easier and like you’re very, very motivated and like you’re right close to the finish line of getting back and being back.
“And then like it’s not like I have a training camp to like build up to like playing my first game again. It’s like no, like you’re tossed into game 30. Like go try to play well. Like it’s hard.”
The Fever have seven games left in the regular season after Sunday’s contest against the Minnesota Lynx.
