Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Out 1-2 Weeks

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that NBA star Anthony Edwards has right knee inflammation and will be out 1-2 weeks.

It’s a massive loss for the Timberwolves, who are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Anthony Edwards has appeared in 58 games this season. He’s averaging 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 49.2% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc and 79.6% from the free-throw line.

Edwards is currently fifth in the league in points, third in points per game and ninth in 3-point field goals.

The Timberwolves will need Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels and Donte DiVincenzo to take their offensive games to another level while Edwards is out. Minnesota must be a top-six seed to avoid the NBA play-in tournament.

A four-time All-Star, Edwards was the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Georgia. He holds career averages of 24.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. The shooting guard has led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals two years in a row.

Minnesota lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 conference finals and fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 conference finals.

The Timberwolves have 14 games left in the regular season. Let’s see if they can stay afloat in the rugged Western Conference without Edwards.

Minnesota signed Edwards to a five-year, $244 million extension in 2023. Edwards is making $45.5 million this season.
