NBA Trade Idea Sends Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Bronny James to San Antonio Spurs

An NBA trade idea sending LeBron James and Bronny James from the Los Angeles Lakers to the San Antonio Spurs has been created.
NBA writer Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Lakers and Spurs:
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, a 2031 first-round pick swap with the Sacramento Kings (that San Antonio acquired in the DeMar DeRozan trade) and a 2032 first-round pick swap
San Antonio Spurs Receive: LeBron James and Bronny James
LeBron would have to request a trade from the Lakers to the Spurs for this NBA trade idea to work, as the 40-year-old basketball legend has a no-trade clause in his contract.
For the first time in his legendary career, LeBron is playing on an expiring contract. He’ll make $52.6 million next season in the final year of his deal.
LeBron’s future with the Lakers has been a hot topic after his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, issued the following statement to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN:
“LeBron wants to compete for a championship. He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we’ve had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career.
“We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what’s best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what’s best for him.”
Since the Lakers are Luka Dončić‘s team now, some believe LeBron should request a trade to finish his iconic career elsewhere. The four-time MVP and four-time Finals MVP turns 41 in December. He’s the oldest active player in the NBA.
This NBA trade idea would give the Spurs a lethal “Big 4” of LeBron, Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle. San Antonio hasn’t made the playoffs since 2019. That streak would end next year with LeBron in the fold next to Wembanyama, Fox and Castle.
Arguably the greatest player in NBA history, LeBron appeared in 70 games for the Lakers last season. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks, finishing sixth in MVP voting and making the All-NBA Second Team.
