The Dallas Mavericks are expected to work with Anthony Davis‘ camp as they decide whether to pursue an in-season trade after Nico Harrison was fired, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Davis is not expected to request a trade from the Mavericks, who are just 3-8 on the season.

“As for where Davis himself stands: There has been no suggestion in the immediate aftermath of Harrison’s ouster that he would try to force his exit just because Harrison, who openly loved him and wanted to build around him, has abruptly been dismissed,” Stein wrote.

“It’s believed the Mavericks will work with Davis’ camp over the next two-plus months as they decide whether to pursue an in-season trade. Davis’ agent Rich Paul and Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont have established a relationship that features regular contact since they were introduced at the Mavericks’ Play-In Tournament victory in Sacramento in April. The parties are thus expected to work in concert to some degree on next steps.”

Davis has appeared in only 14 games with the Mavericks since the Luka Dončić trade. The big man is averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.9 blocks per game.

A 10-time All-Star, Davis has played in just five games this season. He’s currently dealing with a left calf strain and it’s unknown when the Chicago native will suit up again.

Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this season while shooting 52.0% from the field, 27.3% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the free-throw line. He turns 33 in March.

A future Hall of Famer, Davis reported to training camp at 268 pounds, according to the roster the Mavericks released in September. That was 15 pounds heavier than what he was listed at the previous season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Davis is making $54.1 million this season. He will make $58.5 million next season and has a player option for the 2027–28 season worth $62.8 million.
