The Dallas Wings have waived forwards Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and McKenzie Forbes, the team announced Saturday, as they continue trimming their roster ahead of the 2025 WNBA season opener. The Wings must finalize their regular season roster by the league’s May 15 deadline, with the season tipping off one day later.
Herbert Harrigan, a 6-foot-2 forward known for her defensive presence and shot-blocking ability, brought some experience to camp. The Minnesota Lynx selected her sixth overall in the first round of the 2020 WNBA Draft. She has since played for the Seattle Storm (2021), Phoenix Mercury (2024), and most recently, the Wings. Over her WNBA career, she has appeared in 53 games, averaging 3.3 points per game while making her mark as a high-energy frontcourt defender.
Forbes, a versatile 6-foot guard/forward, was drafted 28th overall in the third round of the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She was waived before the 2024 regular season and spent the year playing professionally overseas in Australia and New Zealand.
Both players were signed to training camp contracts. Still, they did not make the final cut as head coach Chris Koclanes and the Wings’ front office prioritize roster cohesion and developmental fit around the team’s new foundational core.
The Wings’ current roster features a mix of established stars, rising talent, and recent draft picks, led by franchise players Arike Ogunbowale and No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers.
The pair started together in Dallas’ preseason opener against the Las Vegas Aces, a 112–78 loss at Notre Dame’s Purcell Pavilion. The game marked Bueckers’ WNBA preseason debut, with the rookie scoring 10 points in 22 minutes while adjusting to the league’s speed and physicality.
Dallas’ trimmed roster now includes: Bueckers, Ogunbowale, DiJonai Carrington, NaLyssa Smith, Teaira McCowan, Myisha Hines-Allen, Maddy Siegrist, Kaila Charles, Joyner Holmes, Luisa Geiselsoder, Mai Yamamoto, Tyasha Harris, Aziaha James, JJ Quinerly, Madison Scott, and Aaronette Vonleh.
Following losing to Las Vegas, Koclanes emphasized lineup experimentation and communication growth as key focuses for the remainder of training camp. The Wings return to action on May 10 against Japan’s Toyota Antelopes in their second preseason game.
With only a handful of practices and one exhibition left before Opening Night, Dallas is expected to make additional roster decisions as it narrows down to the WNBA-mandated 12-player limit.
