Dallas Wings’ Paige Bueckers Goes Through Shootaround Ahead of Connecticut Sun Matchup

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers took part in Wednesday morning’s shootaround after missing practice the previous day with an illness, but her status for tonight’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun remains uncertain.

Bueckers is officially listed as questionable. The team will provide an update before tipoff before deciding if she can return to action. The rookie has been central to Dallas’ offense all year, averaging 19.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 31 games.

On Sunday, her streak of 30 consecutive double-digit scoring performances came to an end in a road loss to the Golden State Valkyries.

Paige Bueckers Remains Questionable to Play

The Wings continue to manage a roster heavily impacted by injuries. Guards Tyasha Harris, Arike Ogunbowale, and JJ Quinerly remain out with knee problems, along with center Li Yueru, who was acquired in a midseason trade but has since been ruled out for the season.

Forward Myisha Hines-Allen was also absent from Tuesday’s practice due to personal reasons, though she was not listed on the official injury report.

Even with the injuries, veterans say the locker room has not lost confidence.

“Nobody feels sorry for us, so it’s about who puts on the jersey and gives energy,” Hines-Allen said.

Dallas Wings Look to Hardship Signings for Depth

Dallas signed guard Serena Sundell to a hardship contract to help plug the gaps. The 6-foot-2 playmaker, a two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection at Kansas State, went through her first practice on Tuesday.

She said she is embracing the chance to contribute wherever needed.

“I just want to come in with a great attitude and be that player that’s going to fill the gaps of whatever’s asked from me,” Sundell told DallasHoopsJournal.com.

Amy Okonkwo, another hardship pickup, has already provided scoring balance, averaging 10.0 points per game through two performances.

The Wings (9-29) will try to regroup against the Sun (9-28), who are led by Eastern Conference Player of the Week Tina Charles. Connecticut has won consistently in Dallas in recent years, making Bueckers’ availability an important factor.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at College Park Center.
