What to Watch For
The Bueckers Debut: Paige Bueckers makes her long-awaited professional debut after leading UConn to a national championship and being selected first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Born in Edina, Minnesota, and a Hopkins High School graduate, Bueckers will face her hometown team on what has officially been declared “Paige Bueckers Day” in Hopkins. The city has even temporarily renamed itself “Paige Bueckers, Minnesota” in her honor.
Battle of UConn Greats: Two of UConn’s all-time scoring leaders will go head-to-head in Bueckers and Lynx forward Napheesa Collier. Both are members of the school’s prestigious Huskies of Honor and enter the matchup as key figures for their respective franchises.
New Faces in Dallas: This year’s Wings roster includes just three returning players from the 2024 squad—Arike Ogunbowale, Teaira McCowan, and Maddy Siegrist. Dallas added veteran depth with DiJonai Carrington, NaLyssa Smith, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Tyasha Harris, while the rookie class features Bueckers, Aziaha James, and JJ Quinerly.
Preseason Recap: Dallas split its preseason games, falling to the Las Vegas Aces on the road before dominating the Toyota Antelopes at home, 119-52. Bueckers impressed with 12.5 points per game and 60% shooting from three across two outings.
Rivalry Renewed: The Wings and Lynx split their four-game series last season, with Dallas winning both matchups at home. The teams will face off four more times in 2025, beginning with Friday’s opener and continuing on May 21 in Minneapolis.
