ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Wings forward Jessica Shepard was named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from May 25-31, the league announced Monday. It is the first Player of the Week honor of Shepard’s career and the first for a Wings player since July 2023.

Shepard earned the honor on the strength of a career night in Dallas’ 95-87 win over the Las Vegas Aces on May 28, when she recorded 22 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. The performance made her the first player in WNBA history to post at least 22 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists in a single game.

A Triple-Double for the WNBA Record Book

It was Shepard’s second triple-double of the 2026 season and the third of her career, and she is the only player to record one anywhere in the league this season. In just 8 games with Dallas, the 6-4 forward set the franchise record with 2 career triple-doubles and now ranks tied for third in WNBA regular-season history with 3, alongside Candace Parker and Caitlin Clark.

Her outing against the Aces extended her streak to 5 consecutive double-doubles, tied for the fourth-longest in Wings history. She also became the first WNBA player this season to grab 20 rebounds in a game and just the second in franchise history to reach that mark in a regular-season contest, joining Glory Johnson, who pulled down 22 on July 5, 2016.

Jessica Shepard’s Season Averages and What Is Next

Through the first 9 games of the season, Shepard is posting career-best averages of 12.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. Her rebounding average is tied for the WNBA lead with the Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese, and she is the only player ranked in the league’s top 10 in both rebounds and assists, sitting eighth in assists.

Shepard and the Wings return to action Friday at the Los Angeles Sparks, with tip-off set for 9 p.m. CT at Crypto.com Arena. The game will air nationally on ION.
