Dallas Wings’ JJ Quinerly Undergoes Knee Surgery, Expected Back for 2026 WNBA Season

Dallas Wings rookie guard JJ Quinerly underwent successful left knee surgery Thursday, the team announced.
The procedure — an osteochondral allograft with meniscus repair — addressed damage sustained during the Wings’ Aug. 20 game at the Los Angeles Sparks.
The 5-foot-6 guard avoided a full ACL tear, suffering a sprain instead, and is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2026 WNBA season.
The team said her rehabilitation will be closely monitored throughout the offseason to ensure a complete return to form.
Breakout Rookie WNBA Season
Quinerly was selected 27th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft out of West Virginia and quickly made an impact in her first professional season.
She appeared in 34 games for Dallas, averaging 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 42.6% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range.
Her efficiency and production placed her among the league’s most successful third-round picks in recent years.
Quinerly became just the third third-round selection in the past decade to average at least six points per game as a rookie and the seventh in league history to record at least six points and two assists per game in her debut season.
JJ Quinerly’s Outlook
Before her injury, Quinerly was one of the WNBA’s top-performing third-round picks, ranking third in scoring and first in three-point shooting percentage among active players selected in that round.
She also became the first third-round pick since 1999 to score at least 15 points in three consecutive games as a rookie.
Dallas expects her to return fully healthy for the start of the 2026 campaign.
The organization has emphasized patience and long-term recovery as Quinerly continues her rehabilitation, viewing her as a key part of the team’s backcourt future.
