The Dallas Mavericks don’t want to trade Naji Marshall or Max Christie, but they are still exploring moves involving Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Mavericks are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. If the regular season ended today, Dallas wouldn’t even be in the NBA play-in tournament.

Marshall signed with Dallas in the offseason of 2024, Christie was part of the blockbuster Luka Dončić trade with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, Gafford has been on the Mavericks since Feburary 2024, Thompson joined Dallas in the offseason of 2024 and Russell signed with the Mavericks last offseason.

Marshall has appeared in 48 games this season. He’s averaging 14.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. The 28-year-old is making $9 million.

Christie has played in 45 games. He’s averaging 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. The 22-year-old is making $7.7 million.

Gafford has appeared in 33 games. He’s averaging 8.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. The 27-year-old is making $14.4 million.

Thompson has played in 45 games. The four-time NBA champion is averaging 11.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. He’s making $16.7 million.

Finally, Russell has appeared in 26 games. He’s averaging 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. The 29-year-old, who is not in the Mavericks’ rotation, is making $5.7 million.

The Mavericks are listening to trade offers for everyone on the roster except Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving, but it will take a lot to get Marshall or Christie. Both players have been good fits next to Flagg, Dallas’ new franchise player in the post-Dončić era.

The 2026 NBA trade deadline is February 5 at 3 p.m. ET. It will be fascinating to see if the Mavericks make any trades.
