Miami Heat star Tyler Herro will miss the start of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Herro is undergoing surgery on his left foot. The shooting guard suffered the injury during an offseason workout, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.

For the Heat last season, Herro averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks in 77 games. He made his first All-Star team and shot 47.2% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 87.8% from the free-throw line. The 25-year-old will make $31 million in 2025-26.

Herro has career averages of 19.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Heat. He won the 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year Award.

The Heat lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in four games. Jimmy Butler requested a trade and was traded to the Golden State Warriors in February.

Miami president Pat Riley was busy this offseason. He traded Kyle Anderson and Kevin Love to the Utah Jazz, acquired Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers, traded Duncan Robinson to the Detroit Pistons for Simone Fontecchio, traded Haywood Highsmith to the Brooklyn Nets and re-signed Davion Mitchell.

The Heat tried to trade for NBA legend Kevin Durant, who was traded by the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets. Miami is currently trying to trade Terry Rozier, who will make $26.6 million in 2025-26 in the final year of his contract.

Rozier remains under federal investigation on a potential gambling probe.
