Three-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends New York Knicks’ Josh Hart to Brooklyn Nets

A three-team NBA trade idea sending Josh Hart from the New York Knicks to the Brooklyn Nets has been created.
NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Knicks, Nets and Milwaukee Bucks:
New York Knicks Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Karl-Anthony Towns, Danny Wolf, 2026 first-round swap (NYK), 2028 first-round swap (worst of NYK and BKN), 2030 first-round swap (NYK)
Brooklyn Nets Receive: Josh Hart, 2026 second-round pick (MIL via NYK), 2026 second-round pick (MIN via NYK)
Hughes created this trade idea after NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported on August 4 that Antetokounmpo is still evaluating his future with the Bucks, who have won just one playoff series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games.
“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”
Hart appeared in 77 games for the Knicks last season. He averaged 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.4 blocks while shooting 52.5% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 77.6% from the free-throw line. The 30-year-old recorded 34 double-doubles and nine triple-doubles.
A Villanova product, Hart will make $19.5 million next season.
“A couple of second-rounders should be enough to entice the Nets to absorb Hart’s contract. He should be flippable for more value at the deadline with three years and $63 million left on his current deal,” Hughes wrote.
The Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals in six games, while the Nets missed the postseason for the second consecutive year.
Hart has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers and Knicks. He enters next season with career averages of 10.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.3 blocks in 530 NBA games.
