An NBA trade proposal sending Anthony Davis to the Golden State Warriors and Jimmy Butler and two draft picks to the Dallas Mavericks has been created.

NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created the following trade proposal between the Warriors and Mavericks:

Golden State Warriors get: Anthony Davis

Dallas Mavericks get: Jimmy Butler, 2026 first-round pick (top-four protected), 2028 first-round pick

Buckley created this NBA trade proposal in the wake of Butler tearing his ACL and being ruled out for the season.

The Warriors were interested in trading for Davis before the 10-time All-Star suffered a left hand injury against the Utah Jazz. Davis could play again this season if he gets traded to a playoff team. The future Hall of Famer is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.

Butler will make $56.8 million next season in the final year of his contract. The Mavericks could let the forward rehab his injury with them and either trade him next season once he’s cleared to play or let his contract come off their books.

The 2026 NBA trade deadline is February 5 at 3 p.m. ET. Rich Paul’s preference is to get an extension done for Davis in the offseason, but it’s unknown if the Mavericks will offer Davis an extension due to his age and injury history, which is why Paul wants his client traded this season.

Davis is making $54.1 million this season. He’s eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension in August. The former Los Angeles Lakers star has been linked to the Warriors, Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks in trade rumors.

The Mavericks are in 12th place in the West, while the Warriors are in eighth place.

It will be fascinating to see what Golden State does with Jonathan Kuminga, who has demanded a trade. Dallas is interested in Kuminga, so maybe the Warriors and Mavericks can complete a Davis-Kuminga trade.
