DHJ Quick Take: Wings Rule Out Awak Kuier And Odyssey Sims, List Li Yueru As Probable At Minnesota

The Dallas Wings ruled out Awak Kuier (right wrist) and Odyssey Sims (left ankle) for Tuesday’s game at the Minnesota Lynx and listed Li Yueru (left ankle) as probable.

  • Who’s out? Awak Kuier (right wrist) and Odyssey Sims (left ankle).
  • Who’s probable? Li Yueru (left ankle), two days after she practiced fully.
  • What’s next? Dallas visits the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. CT.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Dallas Wings will be without two players for Tuesday’s road game against the Minnesota Lynx.

Awak Kuier (right wrist) and Odyssey Sims (left ankle) are out, according to the team’s injury report. Li Yueru (left ankle) is listed as probable.

Dallas Wings Updates

The designations come two days after Kuier and Yueru were full participants at Sunday’s practice. Kuier, who was inactive for Friday’s 104-96 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, practiced Sunday without the brace she had worn on her right wrist in Los Angeles but will not clear in time for Tuesday.

Yueru, also inactive against the Sparks, has trended toward a return.

Sims has not practiced since suffering a left ankle injury in the second quarter Friday, when she was taken off the court in a wheelchair. She is averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 assists in 17.0 minutes this season, while Kuier is averaging 6.6 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Guard Aziaha James, who exited the Sparks game with a fourth-quarter leg injury, was not listed on the report and is expected to be available after returning to full practice Sunday.

What’s at Stake Against the Minnesota Lynx

Dallas, 7-3 and winners of four straight, visits a Minnesota team that sits at 9-2 and atop the Western Conference in Commissioner’s Cup play at 3-0. The Wings are 2-0 in Cup games. Minnesota arrives off an 88-68 home win over the Seattle Storm on Saturday.

The Wings are coming off a 104-96 road win over the Sparks in which Arike Ogunbowale scored a season-high 30 points and Paige Bueckers handed out a career-high 14 assists. A win Tuesday would extend their streak to five, their longest since the 2023 regular season.

It would also break through some history. Minnesota won the first meeting 90-86 on May 14 in Arlington and leads the all-time series 58-21. Dallas has not beaten the Lynx since August 30, 2024, and has not won at Target Center since July 12, 2023.

The game opens a stretch of five games in nine days. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on KFAA.
