- Draft Assets Conveyed: The draft compensation features the Warriors’ 2026 No. 11 overall pick alongside two unprotected future firsts (2028 and 2032) heading to Milwaukee, while Houston would secure the 2026 No. 28 overall pick from Minnesota.
A blockbuster NBA trade proposal sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler to the Houston Rockets and Julius Randle to the Milwaukee Bucks has been created.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade proposal between the Warriors, Timberwolves, Rockets and Bucks:
Golden State Warriors Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Kevin Durant
Houston Rockets Receive: F Jimmy Butler, 2026 first-round pick (No. 28 overall, via Wolves)
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: PF Julius Randle, SG Brandin Podziemski, G Donte DiVincenzo, F Dorian Finney-Smith, 2026 first-round pick (No. 11 overall, via Warriors), 2028 first-round pick (unprotected via Warriors), 2032 first-round pick (unprotected via Warriors)
There is a lot to unpack here.
This massive trade proposal pairs Antetokounmpo with Warriors legends Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Durant with Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards and Butler with Rockets stars Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson and Alperen Şengün.
Meanwhile, Randle, Podziemski, DiVincenzo and Finney-Smith head to the Bucks to play for new head coach Taylor Jenkins in the post-Antetokounmpo era.
“The Warriors are the headliners here, trading for two-time MVP Antetokounmpo to pair with Curry and Green, keeping the title window cracked open,” Swartz wrote. “Minnesota finally lands the star they previously pursued in Durant, while the Rockets reset with a different star and get back into the first round of the 2026 draft. The Bucks receive a combination of win-now veterans, a high-upside guard and three first-round picks, including a lottery selection next month.”
The Bucks are open for business on trade calls and offers for Antetokounmpo, who believes the time has come for him and the franchise to part ways. Antetokounmpo guided the Bucks to the 2021 championship in six games against the Phoenix Suns. Milwaukee has won just one playoff series since then and missed the playoffs this year for the first time since 2016.
Antetokounmpo has spent his entire NBA career with the Bucks. He’s a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and 10-time All-Star. The future Hall of Famer will make $58.5 million next season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season and Curry and Antetokounmpo are with the same agency, Octagon.
Durant’s “moodiness” took Rockets players some getting used to this season and it wore on the team’s young players, according to Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon of ESPN. Houston acquired Durant from Phoenix last offseason and won 52 games this regular season but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs in six games. Durant only played in Game 2 of the series because of a knee and ankle injury.
Durant will make $43.9 million next season. He has a player option worth $46.1 million for the 2027-28 season. The 16-time All-Star has a tight relationship with Edwards and the Timberwolves came close to acquiring Durant before the Rockets got the two-time Finals MVP from the Suns.
Butler, who was born in Houston, will miss the start of next season recovering from his right ACL tear. The swingman will make $56.8 million next season in the final year of his contract.
Meanwhile, Randle will make $33.3 million next season. The lefty has a player option worth $35.8 million for the 2027-28 season.
