A blockbuster three-team NBA trade idea where the Dallas Mavericks acquire LeBron James and Bronny James from the Los Angeles Lakers has been created.

NBA writer Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report created the following three-team trade idea between the Mavericks, Lakers and Brooklyn Nets:

Mavericks get:

Lakers get:

  • Daniel Gafford (from Mavericks)
  • PJ Washington (from Mavericks)
  • Naji Marshall (from Mavericks)
  • Caleb Martin (from Mavericks)
  • Jaden Hardy (from Mavericks)
  • 2030 Lakers second-rounder (from Nets)
  • 2031 Lakers second-rounder (from Nets)
  • $24.1 million trade exception (LeBron James)

Nets get:

  • Dalton Knecht (from Lakers)
  • Maxi Kleber (from Lakers)
  • Olivier-Maxence Prosper (from Mavericks)
  • Dwight Powell (from Mavericks)

This NBA trade idea would reunite LeBron with Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, Jason Kidd and Phil Handy.

LeBron and Irving played together on the Cleveland Cavaliers. They won the 2016 championship against the Golden State Warriors. Handy was an assistant coach on that Cleveland team.

Davis, Russell and LeBron played together on the Lakers. LeBron and Davis won the 2020 title against the Miami Heat. Handy and Kidd were assistant coaches on that Los Angeles team.

For this NBA trade idea to happen, LeBron has to request a trade from the Lakers and tell the front office to send him to the Mavericks. The 40-year-old LeBron has a no-trade clause in his contract.

The leading scorer of all time, LeBron made the All-NBA Second Team and finished sixth in MVP voting last season, proving that he’s still an elite weapon despite being the oldest active player in the league.

It will be fascinating to see where LeBron is playing next season. The Lakers are building around Luka Doncic now. This is the first time in LeBron’s career that he’s not the focal point of a franchise he’s on.
