New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs Will Aggressively Pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade With Milwaukee Bucks

The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs will aggressively pursue a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA sources told DallasHoopsJournal.
The Knicks and Bucks discussed an Antetokounmpo trade before the season started. Antetokounmpo is very interested in playing for the Knickerbockers, sources said.
Meanwhile, one of the reasons the Spurs didn’t heavily pursue Kevin Durant in the offseason is that the front office wanted to save trade assets for Antetokounmpo, sources said. San Antonio has a bevy of draft picks it can offer to Milwaukee, plus young players such as Devin Vassell, Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle.
Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns. Since then, Milwaukee has won only one playoff series.
A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo is making $54.1 million this season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. The superstar forward doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.
The Bucks are only 9-13. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Knicks are 13-7, while the Spurs are 14-6.
Antetokounmpo, 30, is averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this season while shooting 63.9% from the field and 63.0% from the free-throw line. The Bucks recently lost to the Washington Wizards and Antetokounmpo has grown frustrated with losing, sources said.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and nine-time All-Star. He holds career averages of 24.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
The Bucks selected Antetokounmpo with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Antetokounmpo is a member of the 75th Anniversary Team. He recently became the sixth-youngest player in NBA history to score 21,000 points.
Only LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Durant and Michael Jordan scored 21,000 points at a younger age than Antetokounmpo.
