Wings Move Marquee Matchup vs. Fever to American Airlines Center Amid Surging Demand
The Dallas Wings will face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever at American Airlines Center on June 27 in a high-demand game moved to a larger venue.
The Dallas Wings will host the Indiana Fever on June 27 at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas, shifting the highly anticipated matchup into a larger venue to meet soaring fan demand. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, with team partner Albert serving as the presenting sponsor of the game, which will carry the theme “A Night In Dallas.”
The game marks the Wings’ first home contest outside of Arlington’s College Park Center since the 2020 season, when it was held in the WNBA “Wubble.” The move to American Airlines Center, which seats up to 20,000 for basketball, follows a growing trend around the league as teams look to accommodate the increasing draw of Indiana’s Caitlin Clark.
Dallas becomes the sixth WNBA franchise to relocate a home game against the Fever into a larger arena, joining Atlanta, Chicago, Connecticut, Las Vegas, and Washington. Clark, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick, has quickly become one of the most recognizable athletes in sports, bringing record WNBA crowds and national visibility.
“We are thrilled to bring WNBA basketball to American Airlines Center for the first time,” said Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb. “Hosting this game at AAC provides our athletes with the well-deserved opportunity to be showcased in front of a record home crowd.”
Interest in the matchup is amplified by the potential for fans to see the last three No. 1 overall WNBA Draft picks in the same game. Clark headlines the Fever alongside 2023 top selection Aliyah Boston, while Dallas holds the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft. That event is scheduled for April 14 at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN.
Season Ticket Members will have early access to buy additional seats beginning March 24 at 10 a.m. CT. Tickets for the general public go on sale March 26 through Ticketmaster. Single-game tickets for all other Wings home games will be available starting April 14.
The decision to move the June 27 contest comes amid record-breaking interest in women’s basketball. Last season, the WNBA’s average attendance climbed to 9,807 fans — a 48% increase from the prior year. Indiana set the league’s single-game attendance record last September when it drew a massive crowd against Washington inside Capital One Arena.
While the Wings have played to near-capacity crowds in Arlington — including eight sellouts and an average of 95% capacity during the 2024 campaign — American Airlines Center offers a chance to shatter previous franchise attendance highs.
The Wings enter 2025 with a retooled front office and a bolstered roster. Curt Miller was hired as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager, while Chris Koclanes stepped in as head coach. The team made significant moves in free agency, adding DiJonai Carrington, NaLyssa Smith, Tyasha Harris, and Myisha Hines-Allen to a core led by All-WNBA guard Arike Ogunbowale, center Teaira McCowan, and forward Maddy Siegrist.
With five picks in the 2025 draft — including No. 1 overall and three in the top 14 — and increased national visibility, the Wings are poised for a defining season.
