Anthony Davis’ Personal Medical Staff Is On Dallas Mavericks’ Payroll, Something That Was Never Done With Luka Dončić

Anthony Davis‘ personal medical staff is on the Dallas Mavericks’ payroll, something that was never done with Luka Dončić, according to NBA insider Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Nico Harrison, who was fired by the Mavericks on Tuesday, traded Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers last season for Davis and Max Christie. Harrison had issues with Dončić’s weight and conditioning.
Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont has requested medical data to ensure that Davis isn’t at risk of getting hurt again before returning from his left calf injury. Davis has played in only five games this season.
A future Hall of Famer, Davis has appeared in just 14 games with the Mavericks since the blockbuster Dončić trade last season. The talented big man is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this season while shooting 52.0% from the field, 27.3% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the free-throw line.
Davis reported to training camp at 268 pounds, according to the roster the Mavericks released in September. That was 15 pounds heavier than what he was listed at the previous season with the Lakers.
Dallas is only 3-9 on the season. Davis is widely expected to get traded now that Harrison is gone. The Chicago native is making $54.1 million this season. He will make $58.5 million next season and has a player option for the 2027–28 season worth $62.8 million.
The Mavericks are expected to work with Davis’ camp as they decide whether to pursue an in-season trade. Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group is Davis’ agent.
A top 75 player of all time, Davis has played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Lakers and Mavericks. He has career averages of 24.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 blocks per game.
