The Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons and Golden State Warriors could pursue a trade for Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr., according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

The Nets acquired Porter Jr. from the Denver Nuggets this past offseason. The swingman is making $38.3 million this season.

“It should come as no surprise that Milwaukee, league sources say, is evaluating Porter. … Another team to monitor when it comes to Porter, league sources say, is Detroit. … Sources say that Golden State, which helped inspire this whole notebook, has indeed had some internal discussions about whether to pursue Porter. … Yet another team to consider: Chicago. The Bulls, sources say, were in serious discussions with the Nuggets last season about swapping Zach LaVine for Porter.”

Porter Jr. is having a terrific season for the Nets thus far. The 2023 NBA champion is averaging 25.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49.6% from the field, 41.0% from beyond the arc and 81.2% from the free-throw line.

The Nets are only 10-21. They have no use for Porter Jr., who is better suited to play for a playoff team.

Most people around the NBA expect Brooklyn to trade the Missouri product this season.

Porter Jr. holds career averages of 16.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in the regular season and 13.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in the playoffs. He helped the Nuggets win the 2023 championship against the Miami Heat.
