NBA Exec Expects Dallas Mavericks To Trade Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, D’Angelo Russell, Daniel Gafford

An NBA executive told DallasHoopsJournal that he expects the Dallas Mavericks to trade Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, D’Angelo Russell and Daniel Gafford.
The Mavericks are expected to overhaul their roster after firing general manager Nico Harrison.
Davis, Thompson and Gafford can be traded at any point. Meanwhile, Russell can’t be traded until December 15.
The new decision makers in Dallas, Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi, believe the best route to take moving forward is to trade Davis, Thompson and a few other veterans and rebuild around Cooper Flagg, who is averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game on the season, sources said.
Davis is making $54.1 million this season, Thompson is making $16.7 million, Gafford is making $14.4 million and Russell is making $5.7 million.
Davis has played in just five games this season. He’s currently dealing with a left calf strain and it’s unknown when the 10-time All-Star will suit up again.
A top 75 player of all time, Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game on the season. He turns 33 in March.
Davis reported to training camp at 268 pounds, according to the roster the Mavericks released in September. That was 15 pounds heavier than what he was listed at the previous season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Thompson, who turns 36 in February, is averaging a career-low 9.4 points per game this season. The five-time All-Star started the first seven games before getting benched by head coach Jason Kidd.
Gafford is averaging 10.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He signed an extension with the Mavericks in the offseason, but Gafford is widely regarded as the most tradeable Maverick, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Russell, who played with Davis on the Lakers, is averaging 11.9 points and 4.9 assists per game. He signed with the Mavericks in the offseason and has already rubbed several teammates the wrong way with his approach in practice and lackadaisical effort on defense, sources said.
