Dallas Mavericks Announce Anthony Davis Sustained Ligament Damage In Left Hand

The Dallas Mavericks announced that NBA star Anthony Davis suffered ligament damage in his left hand.
Davis got hurt against the Utah Jazz on Thursday (1/8).
If Davis needs surgery, he will be out for at least six weeks, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.
Davis is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game on the season. He’s appeared in 20 games.
The Mavericks are 14-24. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.
The Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors were interested in trading for Davis, sources said. That may change after this injury, though.
Davis wants to get traded to a team that will sign him to an extension in the offseason, sources said. Davis’ camp, led by agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, doesn’t believe the Mavericks will sign the future Hall of Famer to an extension this offseason, sources said.
The Mavericks haven’t ruled out keeping Davis past the 2026 NBA trade deadline because they are interested in seeing the Chicago native play alongside Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving, sources said.
Davis is making $54.1 million this season. He’s eligible for a four-year, $275 million maximum extension in August.
The Mavericks are exploring the trade markets for Davis, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell, sources said. All four players have been in trade rumors ever since Nico Harrison was fired as general manager.
While Dallas is listening to trade offers for Davis, the front office will not trade the Kentucky product unless they get a “strong” return, sources said. The Mavericks are willing to discuss trades for anyone on the roster not named Flagg and Irving, sources said.
Davis has played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers and Mavericks. He won the 2020 championship with the Lakers, who traded the veteran to the Mavericks last season in the blockbuster Luka Dončić trade.
