The Dallas Mavericks are getting trade calls on Daniel Gafford and Naji Marshall, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
“League sources say that, in addition to Daniel Gafford and interest in the center from various Eastern Conference teams, versatile swingman Naji Marshall has been generating trade inquiries from rival teams,” Stein wrote. “The Mavericks, I’m told, prefer not to move Marshall, who has routinely outperformed the three-year, $27 million deal he signed to replace Derrick Jones Jr. from the team that reached the NBA Finals in 2024. Yet offers for Gafford or Marshall that provide financial relief between now and the deadline presumably have to be considered.”
The Mavericks are 15-25 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.
If the regular season ended today, Jason Kidd’s group wouldn’t even be in the NBA play-in tournament.
Dallas is better suited to lose games this season because 2026 is the final year the franchise controls its first-round pick until 2031.
Gafford is averaging 7.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 62.3% from the field and 77.8% from the free-throw line. He’s making $14.4 million.
Meanwhile, Marshall is averaging 13.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 54.0% overall, 31.0% from 3 and 78.3% from the foul line. He’s making $9 million.
The 2026 NBA trade deadline is February 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
