Eight Players Land On Dallas Mavericks Injury Report Against Denver Nuggets

The Dallas Mavericks released one of their longest injury reports of the season ahead of Monday’s matchup with the Denver Nuggets, continuing a turbulent stretch in which the team has rarely had more than half its rotation available.
Dallas listed eight players on the report, including starters P.J. Washington and Anthony Davis, as well as multiple rotation guards and both of the team’s primary centers. Cooper Flagg is available with a right thumb splint, while Davis is probable as he continues left calf injury management.
Davis’ return is part of a carefully controlled plan the Mavericks established before the road trip. After missing a month with a left calf strain, Davis was only scheduled to play one leg of the Los Angeles back-to-back — a directive made jointly by the Mavericks’ medical staff, governor Patrick Dumont, and head coach Jason Kidd. He played Friday against the Lakers, then sat Saturday against the Clippers exactly as planned.
In Friday’s return, Davis finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 10 field-goal attempts during 28 minutes of action. It was his sixth game of the season and first since Oct. 29, marking the beginning of a gradual ramp-up process.
But the rest of the board reflects the ongoing instability Dallas has faced for weeks.
Washington (right ankle sprain) and Brandon Williams (left adductor strain) are questionable. Daniel Gafford (right ankle injury management) is doubtful, and Dereck Lively II (right foot injury management), Danté Exum (right knee injury management) and Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery) remain out.
Washington’s status is especially notable after he never made it to the opening tip in Saturday’s win over the Clippers. During warmups, he stepped on a loose ball as the horn sounded, rolling his right ankle and immediately leaving the floor. He was ruled out late in the first quarter and did not return to the bench.
Klay Thompson’s Performance Against the LA Clippers Shows Leadership
Thompson wasn’t expected to play on Saturday. The 35-year-old guard was initially ruled out due to left knee injury management, still feeling the effects of the previous night’s loss to the Lakers. But in the hours leading up to tipoff, Thompson used a familiar routine — dipping into the Pacific Ocean near his Los Angeles home — to loosen up and ultimately reverse course.
“Any time you touch the earth it gives you energy,” Thompson said after scoring 23 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter. “I went to my boat and got out in the sea.”
Thompson said he was close to sitting out before reminding himself why he continues to push.
“I know I’m sore, but this is when your character is revealed,” he said. “I don’t have much basketball left in me… Every night out there is really a blessing.”
He played 26 minutes, drilled six three-pointers, and provided spacing that helped rookie Cooper Flagg attack late. For a team currently leaning on an 18-year-old No. 1 pick and a patchwork rotation, Thompson’s presence has become essential.
Dallas Mavericks Brace for Denver Nuggets’ Pace
The Mavericks will attempt to slow a Denver team that has won four of its last six and leads the NBA in scoring at 124.8 points per game. Nikola Jokić enters averaging a triple-double — 28.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 10.9 assists — while Jamal Murray and former Maverick Tim Hardaway Jr. have been steady scoring threats.
Denver will be without forward Aaron Gordon (hamstring) and guard Christian Braun (ankle). Dallas, meanwhile, continues monitoring Washington’s ankle after he rolled it on a loose ball in warmups Saturday, a last-minute setback that forced Naji Marshall into the starting unit.
Flagg, who became the youngest player in league history to score 35 points in a game on Saturday, said he has benefited from late-game guidance from Thompson as well as encouragement from injured teammates.
“I see myself as an impact player,” Flagg said. “I think I can score the ball at a high level.”
Dallas sits at 6–15 entering Monday and is still awaiting full health across the roster. Davis, who returned Friday from a month-long calf setback, is expected to play under continued management.
The Mavericks return home Wednesday to face the Miami Heat, but the final stop of the road trip may depend heavily on who is actually available once lineups are finalized.
