DHJ Quick Take: The Viewing Evolution
- Local Dominance: The return of KFAA 29 as the exclusive local home is a massive win for accessibility. By reaching 6.3 million households across 12 markets, the Wings are ensuring that the start of the Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd era is available for free, over-the-air/
- The USA Network/Peacock Era: As part of the new WNBA rights deal, USA Network becomes a major player with nine scheduled Wings games. This partnership, alongside the Peacock streaming exclusives, represents the league’s move into high-visibility Wednesday night doubleheaders and primetime windows.
- The AAC Showcase: Relocating games against the Chicago Sky (July 12), Golden State Valkyries (Aug 7), and Indiana Fever (Aug 20) to American Airlines Center is a direct response to the “Sell Out” demand. These games are strategically placed on ESPN, ION, and Prime Video to maximize the national audience for the league’s biggest rivalry and expansion matchups.
- National Inventory: With seven games on broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) and a consistent Friday night presence on ION, Dallas is being positioned as one of the WNBA’s “A-List” franchises. The scheduling of the season opener on ABC against the Indiana Fever is the ultimate signal of the league’s marketing priorities for 2026.
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings released their 2026 broadcast and streaming schedule on Wednesday, with KFAA returning for a second consecutive season as the exclusive local television partner. The TEGNA station will air 24 Wings games during the upcoming campaign.
A significant level of anticipation surrounds the Wings for the 2026 season, with veteran head coach Jose Fernandez leading the coaching staff. The roster pairs a young core led by back-to-back No. 1 overall picks Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd with established veterans Arike Ogunbowale and reigning WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith, who signed with Dallas during the league’s free agency period.
The 2026 slate also brings significant changes at the national level. The WNBA added NBC, Peacock, and USA Network as new broadcast partners beginning this season, joining a lineup that already included ABC, ESPN, CBS, ION, Prime, and NBA TV. Dallas will make multiple appearances across each of those networks.
Expanded Local Reach Across 12 Markets
The Wings announced last April that agreements with TEGNA, Gray Media, and Corridor Television would extend the team’s local broadcast footprint beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Those partnerships deliver free, over-the-air Wings games to 6.3 million households across 12 markets, placing the franchise among the WNBA leaders in both geographic reach and household access to local broadcasts.
National Broadcast Breakdown
Dallas opens the 2026 season on ABC with a 12 p.m. CT tip-off against the Indiana Fever on May 9. The Wings have seven games scheduled on national broadcast networks: three on CBS, two on NBC, and two on ABC. ESPN will carry three regular-season games, starting with the July 7 matchup at the New York Liberty.
USA Network, a first-year WNBA broadcast partner, has nine Wings games on its slate, each of which will also air locally on KFAA 29 in Dallas-Fort Worth. The network’s Wings coverage begins May 20 at the Chicago Sky. Peacock will stream two Dallas games, starting with the May 18 home matchup against the Washington Mystics. Both Peacock games will also air on KFAA.
ION remains the exclusive home for the WNBA on Friday nights, with six Dallas games scheduled for the network. The Wings make their ION debut on May 22 at the Atlanta Dream.
Prime will carry six Wings games during the regular season, two of which will also air on KFAA (July 2 at Connecticut and Aug. 20 vs. Indiana). The first Prime exclusive is scheduled for May 14 at home against the Minnesota Lynx.
NBA TV will televise three Dallas games, each simulcast on KFAA, beginning with a June 25 road contest at the Las Vegas Aces.
KFAA Exclusives and American Airlines Center Games
Among the notable games exclusive to KFAA is the May 12 home opener against the Atlanta Dream. Tip-off at College Park Center is set for 7 p.m.
The Wings previously announced plans to move three games this season from College Park Center to American Airlines Center in Dallas. ESPN will carry the July 12 contest against the Chicago Sky at the larger venue; ION will air the Aug. 7 matchup with the Golden State Valkyries; and the Aug. 20 game against the Indiana Fever will air on both Prime and KFAA.
