‘We Definitely Missed Her’: DiJonai Carrington Headlines Dallas Wings Injury Report vs. Seattle Storm

Dallas Wings guard DiJonai Carrington has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Seattle Storm, signaling a likely return after missing the team’s last nine games with a rib injury.

Carrington suffered the injury on June 20 while drawing a charge late in the fourth quarter of a win over the Connecticut Sun. After weeks of limited activity, she practiced fully on July 15 — her first full-contact session since the injury — and was questionable for the team’s final game before the All-Star break. She was ultimately held out after a partial shootaround participation the next morning.

“I’ve been doing okay,” Carrington said last week. “It’s been a really slow process. These are tough injuries to heal, and there’s really just time—not much you can do to help expedite that process.”

DiJonai Carrington is Eager to Return

At the time of her injury, the 5-foot-11 guard was averaging 11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. She served as a vocal leader and defensive anchor in the backcourt.

“It’s always tough not being able to be out there,” she added. “But I’ve been injured before—missed a year, six months. So a month obviously hurts, but putting it into perspective helps me see the bigger picture. It gets you that hunger and that appreciation all over again.”

Head coach Chris Koclanes praised Carrington’s progress after her full practice return before the break.

“She looked good. Conditioning looked good,” Koclanes said last week. “Physicality looked good. She looked pretty comfortable…”

Carrington’s return would be timely for a Dallas team that has leaned heavily on its rookie class in her absence and enters a six-games-in-11-days stretch beginning Tuesday.

“She’s the head of the snake when it comes to defense,” forward Myisha Hines-Allen said. “She knows exactly what the other team’s best player wants to do and how to take that away… when she comes back, you’re definitely going to notice it from the start.”

Dallas Wings Dealing with More Injuries

Hines-Allen is listed as questionable with a right lower leg injury. She has played in 17 games this season, averaging 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds, and has filled a variety of frontcourt roles amid ongoing roster injuries.

The Wings (6–17) remain without Tyasha Harris (left knee) and Maddy Siegrist (right knee), both ruled out. Grace Berger, signed to a hardship contract, is expected to be active again.

Seattle (14–9) has won both prior meetings against Dallas this season and leads the all-time series 48–28. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT Tuesday at Climate Pledge Arena, airing locally on KFAA29.
