Dereck Lively II Upgraded to Questionable for Mavericks vs. Warriors: ‘Steady Progress and Feeling Good’
Dereck Lively II could return for the Mavericks’ matchup vs. Warriors after steady progress from a shoulder injury. Luka Dončić listed as probable with groin strain.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Dallas Mavericks enter Tuesday’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors with new developments on the injury front. Building positive momentum will be vital for a team that’s fallen to 5-5 through 10 games.
Dereck Lively II has been upgraded to questionable after missing the Mavericks’ previous four games due to a right shoulder sprain. He participated in Monday’s practice at Chase Center before telling reporters he had a “good practice.”

“Just got to see how I feel when I wake up, but it’s been steady progress, and I’m feeling good,” Lively said.
Luka Dončić is listed as probable as he continues to deal with a left groin strain. Before playing against the Denver Nuggets in Monday’s loss, head coach Jason Kidd described Dončić as a game-time decision in pre-game media before upgrading him to available. He went through a pre-game workout. Dončić recorded 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists in 41 minutes.
P.J. Washington participated in 3-on-3 elements of Monday’s practice but is listed as doubtful as he recovers from a right knee sprain. It remains to be seen if a similar scenario will occur, but he did go from unlikely to play in preseason, but after participating in 3-on-3, he went on to play against the LA Clippers.
Maxi Kleber went from being doubtful to play against the Nuggets to active. However, the coaching staff elected not to give him minutes. He’s no longer on the injury report.
Danté Exum remains sidelined for the foreseeable future as he recovers from right wrist surgery. Jazian Gortman is also out since he will be on a G League assignment.
