Malcolm Brogdon Drawing Interest from Eight Teams in NBA Free Agency

Veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon is generating significant interest on the free agent market, with eight NBA teams pursuing the former Sixth Man of the Year as he explores options outside of Washington.
According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Washington Wizards are open to sign-and-trade discussions to help facilitate Brogdon’s exit. The Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, and Milwaukee Bucks have all registered varying interest levels.
“League sources say that the Wizards are open to sign-and-trade discussions to facilitate Brogdon’s exit, and a slew of teams have registered varying levels of interest in the 32-year-old,” Fischer reported. “That list includes the Clippers, Suns, and Lakers as well as the Warriors, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings, and Bucks.”
Brogdon, 32, is an unrestricted free agent after appearing in 24 games for the Wizards last season. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 43.3% from the field, 28.6% from three-point range, and 88.0% from the free-throw line. His season was shortened due to an ankle sprain he suffered on February 11.
A former Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year, Brogdon has career averages of 15.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 463 games across stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, and Wizards. He is one of just eight players in NBA history to achieve a 50/40/90 shooting season, doing so in 2018–19 with Milwaukee.
The Lakers and Warriors are reportedly among the most aggressive teams pursuing a sign-and-trade, but all eight franchises remain in the mix. Washington’s flexibility in facilitating a deal could be key for teams without cap space but interested in Brogdon’s veteran presence and efficient backcourt production.
Brogdon is expected to prioritize joining a contender as he enters his ninth NBA season.
