A stunning offseason blockbuster NBA trade proposal sending Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Philadelphia 76ers has been created.
In a column called “The Perfect 2026 Offseason Trade for Every NBA Team, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report created the following trade proposal between the 76ers and Bucks:
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G/F VJ Edgecombe, G/F Paul George, 2026 first-round pick (projected No. 24 overall), 2030 first-round pick (unprotected), 2032 first-round pick (unprotected), 2028 second-round pick, 2028 second-round pick (via Bucks), 2029 second-round pick, 2031 second-round pick
This trade proposal pairs Antetokounmpo with fellow All-Stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. That’s a lethal Big 3 on paper.
Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported in January that the prospect of teaming up with Maxey has the 76ers on Antetokounmpo’s radar. Most people who cover the NBA expect the Bucks and Antetokounmpo to part ways this offseason.
Antetokounmpo has spent his entire NBA career with Milwaukee. He’s a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and 10-time All-Star. The Bucks have won just one playoff series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns and Antetokounmpo has grown tired of losing, sources told Dallas Hoops Journal.
The 76ers haven’t advanced past the second round of the playoffs in the Embiid era. That would probably change next season if the front office acquired Antetokounmpo, one of the greatest players in NBA history, this offseason.
A top 75 player of all time, Antetokounmpo is eligible to sign a four-year, $275 million extension with the Bucks on October 1. If he declines the extension, Antetokounmpo will be traded, per Milwaukee co-owner Wes Edens.
“Giannis is going into the last year [of his contract],” Edens told ESPN. “So one of two things will happen: Either he will be extended or he’ll be traded. The likelihood you’ll let him just kind of play out the last year, we can’t afford that. It’s not consistent with what’s good for the organization. That’s not a Giannis issue. That’s any player that’s in their last year.”
The 76ers project to be a good fit for Antetokounmpo since he’d have a talented supporting cast in Embiid and Maxey and Philadelphia is on the East Coast. Antetokounmpo prefers playing for an East Coast team since the East Coast is closer to Greece, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.
Antetokounmpo’s wife and kids live in Greece.
