How to Watch New York Knicks vs. Dallas Mavericks: Cooper Flagg Status In Question After Latest Update On Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2025)

The Dallas Mavericks open a three-game homestand Wednesday night with uncertainty surrounding their rotation after Cooper Flagg and Caleb Martin were added to the injury report with illness. Both missed morning shootaround, leaving their game status in question as the Mavericks (4–11) look to stabilize after a demanding stretch that included two overtime games and a short-turnaround loss in Minnesota.
The New York Knicks (8–5) are in the second game of a five-game road trip and received encouraging news as Jalen Brunson participated in shootaround in Dallas. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center, with the game airing nationally on ESPN.
This is the first meeting between the teams this season.

Dallas Mavericks Injury Report
Daniel Gafford: Probable (Right Ankle Injury Management)
Dereck Lively II: Probable (Right Knee Injury Management)
Cooper Flagg: Questionable (Illness)
Caleb Martin: Questionable (Illness)
Anthony Davis: Out (Left Calf Strain)
Danté Exum: Out (Right Knee Injury Management)
Kyrie Irving: Out (Left Knee Surgery)
Ryan Nembhard: Out (Left Knee Sprain)
Head coach Jason Kidd said Nembhard sprained his knee while working out.
“Ryan sprained his left knee working out,” Kidd said. “Hopefully he’ll be back in 2–3 weeks.”
Gafford and Lively returned to participate in Wednesday’s shootaround after missing Monday’s loss in Minnesota, where Dallas struggled inside during the final leg of a three-game stretch that included two overtime finishes.
“I’m doing good,” Gafford said. “I’m doing good. I can’t complain.”
He added that the ankle pain should improve over time.
“I doubt the rest of the season,” Gafford said. “It’s going to be around a good amount throughout this first part of the season, but I feel like it’s going to get better through and through.”
Flagg, Dallas’ leading scorer among qualified players (15.5 ppg), is now dealing with an illness in addition to his right thumb sprain.

Frontcourt Reinforcements Arrive for Dallas
The return of Gafford and Lively gives Dallas needed stability after playing without all three centers — Gafford, Lively and Anthony Davis — on Monday.
“It’s good energy today,” Gafford said. “Despite the loss we just had coming from Minnesota, we still came in knowing we’ve got a job to do today.”
He added the focus is now on implementing what they learned from Monday’s mistakes.
“The most important game is today’s game. We learned from the mistakes we made last game, and we’re trying to implement that into this game today.”
Cooper Flagg’s Availability Could Swing Dallas’ Offensive Approach
Flagg has looked far more comfortable since moving from point guard to his natural forward position — a shift Daniel Gafford said has been key to the rookie’s early progress.
“I feel like he’s more comfortable,” Gafford said. “It takes a lot of responsibility to play that one spot…so I feel like he’s in the best position he can possibly be in.”
His potential absence leaves Dallas without another creator as Irving, Exum and Nembhard remain sidelined.
Jaden Hardy echoed that the group remains positive through the turbulence.
“It’s a great group of guys,” Hardy said. “We all like being around each other. We all know this is not going to last that long.”
What’s at Stake
Dallas has started the season without continuity due to rotating injuries and evolving roles. The Mavericks committed seven first-quarter turnovers in each of their past two games, making it difficult to generate rhythm.
“We’re asking people — and D-Lo — to be point guards and do things,” Kidd said. “Chemistry is something he’s going through right now — getting used to his new teammates.”
The Mavericks hope their three-game homestand provides relief before a challenging road trip through Miami, Los Angeles (Lakers and Clippers), and Denver.
