LeBron James ‘Has Never’ Thought About Requesting Trade From Los Angeles Lakers

NBA legend LeBron James “has never” thought about requesting a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Lakers Daily.
Noise about James being unhappy with the Lakers “has come from teams trying to get him.”
James, 40, has a no-trade clause in his contract. He becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason for the first time since 2018. The leading scorer in NBA history turns 41 in December and he doesn’t know if he’s going to play next season.
James joined the Lakers in 2018. He led the franchise to the 2020 championship against the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble.
LAL acquired Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks last season. For the first time in his legendary career, James is not the most important player on his team, but James has a close relationship with Dončić, who wants his basketball idol to retire from the NBA with the Lakers.
Dončić and James played 23 games together last season. The Lakers went 15–8 in those games.
Dončić averaged 27.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.4 blocks per game alongside James, who averaged 23.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks per game next to Dončić.
It will be intriguing to see if James retires after this season or chooses to play in the 2026-27 season. The Akron native averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks per game for the Lakers last season in 70 games. He finished sixth in MVP voting and made the All-NBA Second Team.
James is currently out because of sciatica on his right side. He could make his season debut at the end of November.
A future Hall of Famer, James is a four-time MVP, a four-time champion and a four-time Finals MVP. He’s played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Heat and Lakers.
