NBA superstar Luka Dončić of the Los Angeles Lakers was on the TODAY Show and Craig Melvin asked him if he took Ozempic this summer.

Dončić has lost a lot of weight this summer and he did it without Ozempic.

Melvin: “So it was just diet and exercise, that’s it?”

Dončić: “Yeah.”

Melvin: “No Ozempic, none of those shots or anything?”

Dončić: “No.”

Dončić lost weight this summer by going on a gluten-free, low-sugar diet, according to Men’s Health. The 26-year-old has also done intermittent fasting.

A five-time All-Star, Dončić was listed at 230 pounds last season with the Dallas Mavericks and Lakers. It’s unknown how much he weighs right now, but it’s evident by just looking at him that Dončić has gotten thinner and put on muscle.

The Lakers, who are expected to sign Dončić to an extension this weekend, have to be ecstatic about Dončić’s body transformation. The 2019 Rookie of the Year averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists last season in 50 games with Dallas and Los Angeles when he was “out of shape.”

Just imagine the numbers Dončić will put up next season for the Lakers now that he’s “in shape.”

It’s been a busy summer for Dončić. He’s been losing weight, training for EuroBasket and helping the Lakers get better. The future Hall of Famer recruited Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart to the purple and gold.

Dončić has career averages of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists. He will enter next season third in NBA history in points per game. Not bad for a guy the Mavericks called “fat” and “lazy” behind the scenes.

The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. Along with Ayton and Smart, Los Angeles added Jake LaRavia in free agency.
