Milwaukee Bucks Explored Potential Trades for Marcus Smart, Andrew Wiggins

The Milwaukee Bucks explored potential trades for Marcus Smart and Andrew Wiggins, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.
The Bucks, though, couldn’t get a deal done.
Smart and the Washington Wizards wound up agreeing to a buyout and the veteran signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are expected to keep Wiggins.
Marcus Smart appeared in 34 games for the Memphis Grizzlies and Wizards last season. He averaged 9.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 39.3% from the field, 34.8% from beyond the arc and 76.1% from the free-throw line.
Smart, who won the 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award with the Boston Celtics, was recruited by Lakers superstar Luka Dončić.
The Golden State Warriors traded Andrew Wiggins to the Heat in the blockbuster Jimmy Butler trade. Wiggins played in 60 games last season for the Warriors and Heat. He averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 44.8% from the floor, 37.4% from 3 and 76.3% from the foul line.
The Bucks have been very busy this offseason. They waived and stretched Damian Lillard, signed Myles Turner and Gary Harris, re-signed Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims and traded Pat Connaughton to the Charlotte Hornets.
Milwaukee lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. The franchise has won only one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.
One of the best players in NBA history, Giannis Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed the future Hall of Famer to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. There is no no-trade clause in the contract.
Milwaukee is under major pressure to keep Antetokounmpo happy since the organization has struggled in the postseason since 2021.
