Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo punched Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro at Las Vegas Summer League on Friday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Adebayo and Herro were teammates on the Heat for seven years before Miami traded Herro to Milwaukee for Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason.
According to Charania, Adebayo “approached Herro about comments the guard made critiquing the center on social media after their seven-year run in Miami ended.”
The Heat, in a statement, said, “We are aware and not commenting.” The Bucks also had no comment.
Herro finished his Heat career with averages of 19.5 points and 4.1 assists per game in the regular season and 14.6 points and 3.3 assists per game in the playoffs. He made one All-Star team and won the 2021-22 Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Miami made the NBA Finals twice in the Herro-Adebayo era. The Heat lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals and fell to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals.
Herro was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He now gets to play for his hometown Bucks.
Meanwhile, the Heat will move forward with Adebayo and Antetokounmpo as the franchise cornerstones. Miami is also trying to sign NBA legend LeBron James, who played for the Heat from 2010-11 to 2013-14.
The Heat missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2019. LeBron won two MVPs, two championships and two Finals MVPs during his four-year stint with Miami.
Sources told Dallas Hoops Journal that Adebayo and Antetokounmpo have been recruiting LeBron to the Heat.
