An NBA trade proposal sending Michael Porter Jr. from the Brooklyn Nets to the Milwaukee Bucks has been created.

NBA writer Kevin Pelton of ESPN created the following trade proposal between the Nets, Bucks and Detroit Pistons:

Milwaukee Bucks get: Michael Porter Jr.

Brooklyn Nets get: Kyle Kuzma, Taurean Prince, 2031 first-round pick (via Bucks)

Detroit Pistons get: Cole Anthony, cash considerations

The Bucks are interested in trading for Porter Jr, as the front office wants to get more talent around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, particularly at the wing spot.

“For Milwaukee, no player is a better deadline addition than Porter, who would fill a role similar to what Khris Middleton once played for the Bucks and make them far more capable of succeeding when Antetokounmpo sits,” Pelton wrote. “Because Milwaukee is so far below the luxury tax line, it could comfortably add about $8 million in salary, converting three players who have been ineffective or unavailable (Prince underwent neck surgery in November that will likely end his season) into a player who deserves All-Star consideration.

“Would that result in a deep enough playoff run to justify Milwaukee giving up its lone remaining tradable first-round pick? Probably not, but if the Bucks are committed to fortifying the roster around Antetokounmpo, this deal is tough to top.”

Porter Jr. is one of the top scorers and shooters in the NBA. For the Nets this season, the former Denver Nuggets swingman is averaging 26.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc and 82.8% from the free-throw line.

A one-time NBA champion, Porter Jr. is making $38.3 million this season. He’ll make $40.8 million next season in the final year of his contract.

The Bucks are only 16-21 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. If the regular season ended today, Milwaukee wouldn’t even be in the NBA play-in tournament.

With that said, it’s evident the Bucks need to upgrade the roster around Antetokounmpo as soon as possible.
