NBA Adds Regular Season Game to Mavericks’ Schedule After Cup Results

After being eliminated from NBA Cup contention following a 118-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks will now face the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, December 15, at Chase Center in San Francisco. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST and will air nationally on NBA TV.
Under the league’s tournament structure, teams that do not advance to the NBA Cup Semifinals are scheduled to play two additional games that count toward their regular season record. The Mavericks’ first of these extra games was the matchup against the Thunder. Sunday’s contest against the Warriors will serve as their second and final additional game.
The Warriors also experienced a tough loss earlier this week, falling 91-90 to the Houston Rockets in dramatic fashion. Jalen Green knocked down two clutch free throws with just 3.5 seconds remaining to secure the win for Houston, snapping the Rockets’ 15-game losing streak against Golden State. Stephen Curry, who finished with 19 points, missed a potential go-ahead 3-pointer late, and Jabari Smith Jr. blocked the Warriors’ final shot attempt to seal the outcome.
Golden State will look to bounce back at home, where they have been inconsistent throughout the season. Meanwhile, Dallas will be seeking to regain some momentum as they look to climb the standings following their NBA Cup exit.
The last time the Mavericks and Warriors met, it was a tightly contested game that came down to the final moments. Stephen Curry led the way for Golden State with 37 points, including several clutch plays down the stretch to help his team pull out a narrow 120-117 victory. In his first game against his former team at Chase Center, Klay Thompson added 22 points for Dallas, while Luka Dončić posted 31 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the losing effort.
Both teams will be looking to get back on track in what promises to be another competitive matchup.
