An NBA trade idea sending Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics to the Atlanta Hawks has been created.

NBA writer Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Celtics and Hawks:

Atlanta Hawks get: Jaylen Brown

Boston Celtics get: Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, 2029 first-round pick (top-10 protected)

“The Hawks already picked up Kristaps Porziņģis from the Celtics’ yard sale this summer, as Boston’s new ownership has prioritized shedding salary and getting under the second apron,” Swartz wrote. “Both franchises clearly have different priorities for the 2025-26 season. The Hawks have improved their roster mightily around Trae Young, while the Celtics seem fine with waiting until 2026-27 to contend again with a more tax-friendly roster as Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles.”

Brown will make $53.1 million in 2025-26. He signed a five-year, $285 million contract with the Celtics in 2023.

One of the best players in the NBA, Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Celtics last season in 63 games. The small forward shot 46.3% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 76.4% from the free-throw line.

Brown helped the Celtics win the 2024 championship against the Dallas Mavericks. He won the Finals MVP Award after averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks in the five-game series.

The Celtics will not be a title contender in 2025-26 since Tatum is expected to miss the season recovering from his Achilles tear. Meanwhile, the Hawks are in “win-now” mode with Young and Porziņģis leading the way.

Brown was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He recently said he wouldn’t rule out playing for the Hawks one day.

A four-time All-Star, Brown has career averages of 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.4 blocks in the NBA.
