The Brooklyn Nets are interested in trading for NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com.

The Bucks will only trade Antetokounmpo if the two-time MVP requests a trade.

If Antetokounmpo asks out of Milwaukee, NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Bucks and Nets:

Brooklyn Nets Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Michael Porter Jr., 2027 first-round pick (top-1 protected), 2027 first-round pick (via NYK), 2029 first-round pick (top-1 protected), 2029 first-round pick (via HOU), 2031 first-round pick (top-1 protected)

Antetokounmpo is still evaluating his future with the Bucks, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN. Milwaukee has only won one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games.

A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. The Greek Freak will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed Antetokounmpo to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.

Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst has been very busy this offseason. He waived and stretched Damian Lillard, signed Myles Turner and Gary Harris and re-signed Bobby PortisKevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims.

However, it appears Antetokounmpo is still open-minded about leaving the Bucks.

“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”

Antetokounmpo has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks. The swingman is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star.
